About Zimmer Century Tree Farm

On Sept. 5, 1830, my great, great, great grandfather, Peter W. Zimmer purchased over 1,100 acres of land in Tioga County, PA and moved here with his wife & children from Schoharie County, NY. This year, our family is celebrating 175 years on a portion of the same farm! After the passing of my parents in 1983 &' 85, I decided to start planting Christmas trees as a way to keep the fields from becoming overgrown with weed trees and to provide some income to sustain the farm for the enjoyment of future generations.

We currently have about 70 acres in various stages of Christmas tree production with about 15 different species, many of them exotics. Some species do well in our soil, other don't survive because the clay is poorly drained, but so far production has kept up with demand as our farm sales have increased and we are now selling trees wholesale to a few local retailers.

We started selling retail trees in 1988 and the next year we started adding new, and at that time, innovative ways to market trees. I bought a drill and pin stands so that all trees could be displayed in an upright position as you would have them in your home instead of having them "displayed" leaning against a fence as was then common. This was followed in successive years by a shaker, a net baler, Tree Wheelers, delivery, rental trees, a string baler, shaking in the field before baling and introducing many exotic species that have now become common and in demand. Since we have been selling our home-grown trees, we have always provided saws and assistance as needed to load your tree into or onto your vehicle and secure it there. For these reasons and the consistent quality of our trees, we have a very large percentage of our customers coming back every year for their tree.

Over 100 trees drilled and displayed on stands, trees and stands to rent, saws and Tree Wheelers provided, delivery available, pin stand and "Watering Elfs" for sale.

Map & Directions

From the South on US Rt. 15: take Blossburg/Covington exit; go north on old Rt. 15 through Blossburg, then take next two left turns and go up the hill 1.5 miles. Tree hours and lot are on right

From the North on US Rt. 15: take Rt 660/Bus. 15 exit; go south past Rt 660W into Covington, turn right at flashing light, cross bridge and turn left onto Canada Road; go 1.5 miles, cross little bridge and turn right; go up hill 1.5 miles. Tree house and lot are on right.
